X11 version of Java Virtual Machine

Hi,

I posted the following message on the Apple discussion forum (under
OS/X->Unix). However, I think that perhaps this is a better place to
ask.

----------------------------------------

I want to be able to run a Java program on a Mac from a remote computer
(Linux, another Mac, Sun workstation) via ssh and X windows. The
normal JVM for OS/X uses the Aqua interface, which is great for local
use. However, if I log on, say from a Linux box, I cannot use native
OS/X graphics. Thus, I am looking for an X11 version of the JVM for
OS/X.

I've been playing around with VNC (OSXvnc server, VNCThing as client)
as an alternative - but I am not happy with the way it appears to work
on OS/X - particularly the fact that if I log out of an account, I
cannot log back in again since it appears to kill the server. Also,
VNC (at least with software mentioned above) on OS/X appears to be tied
to the monitor currently in use on the server - which means that if you
have a high resolution monitor, VNC will be incredibly slow.

Thanks,
Judith
