Remote display is not set to anything. But my machine has a private IP
and not static IP. So I have no idea how I can change the DISPLAY
setting to my machine. I was using the ssh X for the very reason that
I could not export DISPLAY.
I think Rich's point was that if DISPLAY is not set, you definitely
won't be able to use X. If your ssh server and client are configured
properly, this variable should be automatically set and you should not
need to change it.
I tried to login from apple to a remote Linux Machine using ssh -X
and I had no problem running X applications.
This should lead you to suspect that it's a server-side issue, not a
client-side one. That is, you're probably going to need to fix
something on the Solaris box. I'd recommend you try Tim Cutts'
suggestion:
