is it possible to run a X-server without the apple-GUI but use
OSX? i.e.
login to ">console" and there do something like 'xinit' or 'startx'??
you could install netbsd? ;)

You can run it in full screen mode (check preferences) and start a
different window manager in your .xinitrc.
