Thanks for the response about my X11 font question.
Actually, I had no problem getting xterm fixed. I was really hoping to find a fix for bluefish (web editor). All its program fonts are tiny. The area where text is edited can be adjusted within the program but the menus and sidebar text are microscopic. This appears to be the case with other programs as well. Although, Open Office and Gimp seem fine. The other web editor I tried - Quanta - exhibited the same issues.
pico ~/.gtkrc-2.0
Then in the window which appears type (for example):
gtk-font-name : "Bistream Vera Sans 10"
Then save the file and quit pico with:
Ctrl-O return Ctrl-X
Launch bluefish and enjoy.
