I was able to get my font issue with bluefish straightened out thanks to your help. One small difference though, I had to make the .gtkrc line:

gtk-font-name = "FontName 10"

not

gtk-font-name : "Fontname 10"

Once I did that, fonts looked changed and everything looked great!
