Re: problem with xorg

Check the permissions for the .gimp-2-0 dir

From the command line type

ls -la .gimp-2-0
it will display the following or something similiar

-rw-r--r-- root root 1024 .gimp-2-0

if the owner is root or any other system user then use the command line

sudo chown username:usergroup .gimp-2-0 dir

You can get a hint as to what the owner and group should be by using
ls -l and examining the other files and directory in the user directory for owner and group.

see
xman chown
xman chmod
xman ls

HTH,

At 11/30/2006, you wrote:
in first:
imac intel
osx 10.4.8
fink 0.25.2
xorg 6.8.2
gimp-2.0
firefox1.5
windowmaker
Question: Why, I must be root, for start one application?
If I start Gimp-2.0 from xterm with /sw/bin/gimp-2.0 it start, but
can' t write .gimp-2-0 dir. and the other subdir.
if I start with command sudo gimp-2.0 seems to be ok.
I deleted x11apple / x11r6 and /etc/x11 for this reason; I think was
the last update of x11apple that have same problem.....
Then I install all with fiink installer 0.8.1 and I do update-all. I
choise xorg as X11 implementetion
Exuse my english
regards
