Thanks!  Very useful backstory.

But if the Leopard X11 is based on X11R7, how come the dylibs are
still under /usr/X11?  I thought they'd been moved into /usr/lib as of
R7.0, that being the main runtime-visible distinction between R7 and
R6.9.
