We're buying about 5-10 MacBooks per month. Where are we going to get MacBooks that haven't been upgraded (I'll bet the next batch has Leopard)? I guess we'll have to do some kind of shell script thing, but from what I'm reading the Leopard X11 still doesn't work that well (neither does Python/Tkinter, btw, which is what a lot of our software is/going to. We have to compile our own package of those because Apples' versions work about as well as this X11 does). THEN we have to keep all of these different versions of OS/X11/workarounds straight, as these laptops go off to experiments (literally) all over the world for anywhere from weeks to years (seismic/earthquake-type experiments). This just wasn't a handy thing to have happen. If only a simple install of Leopard would have worked... :)
