Note that both fink and macports take care of a lot of these details for you. I
would expect there is not an official of your application Shrimp but there may
be a cookbook or other documentation for getting generic Unix/Linux applications
built on OSX. I went down the path you are on once and it seemed like it would
never end. Good luck.
