I would quickly get rid of a keyboard that required that type of
contortions to type characters like that! Many years ago I used
a lunchbox type luggable running Linux that had a keyboard with
the frequently used *nix keys, ``/, |, etc.'' in difficult places
while the dumbdos ``\'' key was easy to get to. I carried a real
keyboard with me that had a decent layout.
The first thing I do with any Apple that comes with a keyboard
and mouse is to replace them with a Microsoft ``Natural''
keyboard and a real mouse with three buttons. My wife and I just
gave our daugher a new 20in iMac this weekend, and I found that
keyboard even worse than the one that came with her old eMac.
