| It's getting late, I have other X11-users email to respond to, and I haven't had a chance to update the XDarwin wiki yet, but I thought this was important enough of a fix to push an update out.. I spent most of today trying to isolate the cause of the "Xquartz chews up 100% CPU when I run xauth / ssh / xdpyinfo" bug -- I believe I fixed it. The fix was made in libXtrans -- http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/lib/libxtrans.git;a=commit;h=cd1da5cec49fb7fe6238a00d9ba550b3ed78fa08 -- which is then compiled as part of Xquartz. I know that my last big change from 1.2a9 (the stuck modifier fix) didn't seem to fix the problem for anyone else, which suggests to me that I goofed and uploaded the wrong binary. (I had quite a bit of difficulty getting 1.2a9 to work correctly, and rebuilt it 10 or so times...) So, I'd appreciate it if those who have continued to experience the stuck modifier key issue would try this 1.2a10 -- Xquartz-1.2a10.bz2 - and if that doesn't fix the problem, I'll add in some special debugging code for 1.2a11. And for the rest of you, this should hopefully fix the 100% CPU problem -- if you haven't seen this problem, the easiest way to trigger the bug (and test the fix) is to run "xdpyinfo; xdpyinfo; xdpyinfo" from Terminal.app with X11.app not already running. If you land back at a shell prompt almost immediately, you should be good to go. -- Ben Byer CoreOS / BSD Technology Group, XDarwin maintainer |
