Running /usr/X11/X11.app directly causes the following weird behavior:

1) I run it
2) It bounces in the dock
3) It creates another icon of itself, which has the indicator under it
4) No xterm anywhere...2 continues to bounce.
5) I go into the indicated x11, and hit command-N
6) A third icon appears, with an indicator; the xterm opens in this one
7) I quit the second one
8) I use the third one, now the only one with an indicator.

So I went back to running /A/U/X11.app, which at least creates only one
extra dock icon which is usable. :)

I get the same behavior. The third X11 is the launchd created one, caused by the DISPLAY still set to the new launchd-generated value. The following works:

xterm -display :0

This will start the xterm in one of the two running X11s.

I did notice that after a few minutes, the X11.app that's bouncing finally
stops its bouncing. I check it and it shows "Application Not Responding."
A couple of "Force Quit"s don't do anything. Quitting the "responding"
X11.app causes both to exit from the Dock.

There are two icons in the Dock, but I have verified that the xauth message
is indeed gone on remote hosts.

Unfortunately, now we have to decide which is uglier: the xauth message, or
a pair of X11 icons in the Dock! :)
