OpenOffice and X11

I am forced to use OpenOffice (rather than NeoOffice) because the 2.2
engine is glacially slow on my spreadsheets and makes NeoOffice crash.

But OpenOffice starts every window off full screen, which is incredibly
annoying on a 30" display. Is there a setting to remember and restore
the window sizes?
