I currently have these two set: mod1 Mode_switch (0x42), Mode_switch (0x45) mod2 Meta_L (0x3f) where the command key is Meta_L and the Alt key is Mode_switch. And emacs takes the command key as meta just like it should. Any X application that just decides on its own what mod1 should do is broken.
