That's new with DS9 5.0, I had actually never seen that Mac "Native"
version of ds9 until today! However if you look on their site
there's a version for download called "Darwin Intel" that uses X11.
This is the version that 99.99% of Astronomers use on a Mac I'm
willing to bet.
But why not use the Mac OS X (Universal, i.e., PowerPC- and Intel-
native) version if it now exists, regardless of what others might
still be using (possibly erroneously)? Is there something it appears
to not be able to do versus the version that requires X11?
