Well, there certainly were some improvements in 1.1. Make sure you check it out. If you still see slowdowns like this it would be good to get bug reports about them at <http://developer.apple.com/bugreporter>. There are still known issues with (really) large files, and multiple views of the same file (as mentioned below). But otherwise editing should not be slow like you're talking about. If you do file a bug, make sure you include a sample from Spin Control, Sampler or sample (command line tool).

One thing I've notices is that if you have a single source file (objective-c in my case) that is _displaying in more than one code editor_, performance degrades quickly for editing large files.
