If I could force myself to slow down and pay close attention all the time,
that would work just fine for me. But I can't.

This reminds me of the period when Audi took the advice of its lawyers and
told the public to just stop standing on the accelerator pedal instead of
the brake pedal by accident if they didn't like "sudden acceleration." Audi
almost went out of business before the marketing folks finally forced the
lawyers out of the picture and started advertising the shift lever-brake
pedal interlock safety measure that finally brought the sudden acceleration
phenomenon to an end.
