I have discovered how to change the prompt in terminal (bash) in
Panther, by
modifying the PS1 statement in /etc/bashrc,
As different users might have different tastes here, this usually goes
into $HOME/.bashrc ...
However, I cannot discover where to set the initial working directory,
which is /Users/<username>.
Try a
cd /path/to/wherever/i/want
in your bashrc or .bashrc
