gcc-4.0 status

Hi everyone,

One question has been burning in my mind since Tiger was released: How
synchronized with FSF's gcc-4.0 branch is Apple's ppc branch, the one that
shipped with Tiger? g++ -v tells me that build 4061 is dated 20041026.
But does that mean the last merge from the FSF's main line was before that
date? The reason I ask is because numerous bugs in FSF's gcc-4.0
prereleases were fixed (including some that affect my work, in the C++
front-end) between that time and FSF's official release one week before
Tiger shipped, late in April. My hope was that Apple's branch was
continually merging in fixes/revisions from the mainline. If they haven't
done so, my projects are forced to use gcc-3.3 (not the end of the world)
until apple-ppc-branch catches up. I've filed a bugreport for one case
that works on other gcc versions except build 4061. Are there plans to
merge fixes in for the next Dev Tools update? Do I just need to be
patient? (Should I be asking this on a different list?) Many thanks in
advance.

David Fang
