Re: Anyway to have Xcode Help default to API Search?

Four more suggestions:

Get in the habit of using Command+Option+Shift+?, which is bound to Help>Documentation and will typically bring up Xcode help in API search mode -- rather than just Command+Shift+?, which is bound to Help>Xcode Help and always switches back to Full-Text Search mode.

Or, change your key bindings. You can change your bindings for Help>Documentation to something more convienient.

Or, set a key binding for Help>Find Selected Text in API Reference, which will switch to API Search mode and look up the selected word.

Or, learn to use Option+Double-click to select the word underneath the cursor and performs a Find Selected Text in API Reference in single motion. This always switches to API Search mode, and is (in my opinion) one of the greatest shortcuts in Xcode.
