download servers (or some mirror you downloaded from?) are running
Windows and the download url ended in "download.exe? What happens if
you rename it to "Xcode 2.4.dmg" and double-click it? (after you
verified the size and crc)

Since I've never trusted anything that even sounds as if a Microsolth product, I'm not going to rename it, double-click it, and see what happens. I will check the size & crc though. After that it's srm -mfv download.exe
