Graphite was used and included with CHUD a long time ago. Since,
CHUD has moved to a newer framework. CHUD does not remove Graphite
during installs/updates. You can check to see if /System/Library/
PrivateFrameworks/Graphite.framework exists and contains a valid
framework. Graphite is included with Tiger and you should be able to
reinstall its package from the Tiger media.

True. But in almost the only discussion of this problem that google
can find, Eric Buck states here
that his trouble began after updating CHUD. The proffered advice
was that he should reinstall CHUD. Duh - but what the heck, I tried
it too.
I would suggest that you attempt to reinstall Xcode instead - and
make sure you run the uninstaller script in between!
Just did so, running the Xcode 2.3 uninstall script and and
installing Xcode 2.4. Sampler still crashes, same reason.
I also checked a few other 10.4.7 machines around here, all with
Xcode 2.3 or 2.4. Sampler is broken on all of them.
