| What does "a-w,a+Rx" mean?  It looks like some kind of 
| Reverse Polish Notation for Permissions.  Can this be 
| translated to a 3-digit octal number that I can understand, 
| or is it more complicated than that?

'man chmod' at a Terminal prompt. Or do a quick Google search. It will
become clear in about 5 minutes! :^)
