Can you say the same about garageband? google earth?
Well...since you ask....yes. I find GarageBand's non-standard
interface annoying (why the wooden window?). Google Earth has a
really nasty cross-platform GUI that puts me off using it, and
that's the problem: [rash generalization coming up] Mac users like
their user interface consistent. Although perhaps logically I
shouldn't, I've many times preferred applications with a consistent
UI over those with a custom one. Ones with a weird interface
usually get binned even before I've explored the File menu.
I'm not quite that extreme, but I too tend to trash applications with
non-standard interfaces unless those interfaces offer a real
advantage or the functionality is so compelling that I'm willing to
begrudgingly deal with the interface.
Delicious Library
I tried Delicious Library. Cool concept, but I hated it. Weird
interface, slow as molasses, and it felt like a big marketing tool
for amazon.com.
I'm not saying a non-standard interface is always bad, but you should
use them sparingly and only when they offer a real benefit. IMO
And for future reference, this has nothing to do with Xcode.
Questions like this should be posted to carbon-dev or cocoa-dev,
whichever is appropriate for your project. This list is about using
Xcode. Mostly. ;-)
