How to launch an application for a given document name from carbon

Hi, When double clicking an Icon for a document with a well known application bound to it, the finder automatically start the appropriate application and shows the document. How would this be done from within a Carbon application with a given document file specification or where can I find documentation on how to do this? Thank you Dieter
