And on a similar subject, is there any way to find which project
subfolder a given file is in, if I know the name? I can find it in
Finder, and then double-click so Xcode'll open it, but that's not really
what I'm trying to do here, I'd like to keep working in Xcode as far as
possible.

Select the top-level folder in the "Groups and Files" list. The list of all files should show up in the pane to the right. In the "String Matching" field in the Toolbar, type the name of the file of interest (this step is optional). Select the file in the resulting list. Right-click the file, and select "Reveal in Group Tree" from the pop-up menu (or from the "View" menu). This expands the folders necessary in the "Groups & Files" view to show and highlight the file in its current location in the folder tree.
