SetFile is part of dev tools Re: A little off topic ...

I'm way late on this thread but.. SetFile is part of /Developer on OS X. I find adding /Developer/Tools to my path is handy for using these tools..

NAME
/Developer/Tools/SetFile -- set attributes of files and directories

SYNOPSIS
/Developer/Tools/SetFile [-P] [-a attributes] [-c creator] [-d date]
[-m date] [-t type] file ...

DESCRIPTION
/Developer/Tools/SetFile is a tool to set the file attributes on files in
an HFS+ directory. It attempts to be similar to the setfile command in
MPW. It can apply rules to more than one file with the options applying
to all files listed.

CW needs to correct file types to recognize its files but except from creating a new file in CW, i seem to be unable to set a proper file type in OSX Classic mode.

Either you use ResEdit (it has a "Get Info..." command that lets you edit type and creator), or you find a copy of FileTyper or whatever it was called ... it's an app that can edit file attributes (including type & creator), and includes a MakeAutoTyper program that creates a copy of itself that automatically batch- changes file types.
