Re: XCode Falls Short - for now



I stand by my point of a UI convention being broken - there's a 2- level hierarchy in xcode (cmd-` for windows, opt-cmd-left/right for within a window), which I would call non conventional.
The practice of using a single window to edit multiple files is pretty unconventional too, isn't it?
Well, yes and no - we're all used to tabbed editors and tabbed windows, so what really makes me cry is that the little menu at the top of editor windows is so much less conventional than say tabs (navigable by a conventional shortcut of course) + a recent file list in the file menu. (Personally I often have 10s of files open, partly because the find is so unwieldy, and it's nice to have less than that many windows open.!)

(I mention this because I think we're supposed to not care about no recent file list because we have the "editor history" popup).

This is at the crux of my discomfort with Xcode (though I do really like it!) - it's unconventional and I still haven't come to grips with why the breaking of convention is better...
