I don't think there is hard core market data you can use for all products. It depends on your market, and at best all Apple could tell you is the number of people using each version of the OS. I would assume you're more concerned about the potential for sales to people using 10.2. That group has been around a long time and is shrinking. Do you really think there is a significant number of 10.2 users who just haven't gotten around to discovering and buying your product yet?

After seeing the message from a Mac OS 9.2 user today on MacInTouch, I guess not. All the laggards are still back on Mac OS. There is no middle ground between 9.2.2 and 10.4.9.

I suspect there are still people out there using 10.3. It's perfectly useable and I'm sure there are people who just didn't see any reason to spend $129 to upgrade to 10.4. But I wouldn't worry about supporting it if I were working on a product and wanted to take advantage of features that require 10.4. I decided a few years ago that I was just tired of trying to maintain multiple code paths to support multiple versions of the OS. Now I support all reasonable versions of the OS by keeping older versions of the product available.
