To add to Kyle's response, you really do not want to install GNU libtool
in /usr, it will overwrite Apple's libtool and you'll find that useful
utilities like ranlib will no longer function. See the manpages for
libtool and glibtool for more info.

Also note that libtool, automake and so forth are not hosted at
sourceforge, automake is hosted at http://sources.redhat.com/automake/
and the other autotools are at http://savannah.gnu.org, all can be
downloaded from http://ftp.gnu.org or its mirrors.
