Xcode 3 unresponsive after Save or opening Project Settings?

Man, what is going on with Xcode 3? I checked out a file (and surprisingly, it checked it out the first time and Xcode then *knew* it was checked out - that rarely happens in 3.0). Every time I make some changes, however miniscule, and hit Save, Xcode will then bring up the SPoD for around 15 seconds to a minute. I was thinking it might be trying to update the SCM status for our entire depot. There is a spike of incoming network data every time I save, then 1 CPU goes to 100%. (It's a local file, as is everything else in the project.)

Anybody else see this? The project format is 2.4 compatible.

This project also makes Xcode take a really, really long time to bring up the Project Settings window. It comes up, all section triangles (like on Architectures, Build Locations, Build Options, etc) are closed, the SPoD spins for 15 seconds or so, then all the sections get filled in and Xcode becomes responsive again. Anyone else? The project settings are based on a .xcconfig file if that makes a difference. Hmm, I see a spike of incoming network data every time I open that window, I assume it's getting the project's filelog from Perforce. Should it really take 15 seconds to sort 112 entries in the SCM pane? No.
