Xcode Class Modeling Tool - can't create classes...

Description of the Setup:
  • Create a new "Cocoa Library" project for generating a dynamic library.
  • In "External Frameworks and Libraries:
    • Deselect AppKit.framework.
    • Deselect Cocoa.framework.
    • Select Foundation.framework.
    • Add CoreData.framework.
  • Create a new file of type "Class Model", e.g., Xyz.xcclassmodel, in the target project.
  • Double-click "Xyz.xcclassmodel" under "Groups & Files" to launch the class modeling tool.

Description of the Problem:
The class modeling tool does NOT display a "+" or "-" control under the widget containing three columns whose headings are "Class", "Kind", and "Superclass".

Also, I noticed that in Xcode's main window, when I select "Xyz.xcclassmodel" under "Groups & Files", the "Editor" window displays "Indexing...".

I'm sure this is something simple but I've not been able to find anything in the documentation or out on the net that helps.

MDW
