I think you might have screwed your previous installation. The Xcode 3.2.5 package installs way more things than just the Xcode and Interface Builder applications. When you ran the Xcode 4 installation package, many of those tools and libraries from 3.2.5 were probably replaced, which explains why now that you go back to 3.2.5, you're getting error. I think you should uninstall the developer tools from the script in /Developer/Library named "uninstall-devtools", then reinstall 3.2.5, assuming you still have the disk image.
