Re: [Xgrid] xgrid novice question

the ART is the executable that runs on the agent to check if the agent is deemed "usable" for the task at hand (tutorial coming on MacResearch!). This means Podcast Producer is using Scoreboard to select which agents are worthy of using. It might be documented by Podcast producer (e.g. agent specs), or it might be something you need to figure out from the Podcast Producer developers.

One thing you could try is to "catch" the ART executable by killing xgridagentd on the agent when it receives the ART executable. Xgrid will hopefully not have time to clean the /var/xgrid/agent folders, and if the executable is a script, you can even see what kind of code is used to select appropriate agents. Of course, you cannot change that code, but maybe you can do something to the agent to make it acceptable by Podcast Producer.

Please bear with me, I'm a novice to xgrid - I'm learning about it as part
of my project to implement Podcast Producer.

I have PcP working (and by extension xGrid) with a controller and agent on
the Leopard server machine. Now I'm experimenting with configuring Mac
clients to serve as agents to help with some of the load of processing these
jobs. I've configured 1 Tiger client and 1 Leopard client as an xgrid agent
using the GUI in Sharing of System Preferences. Once I have that done, I
checked Xgrid admin on the Leopard server and saw that the clients were
listed under agents as available. But, when I run some jobs, those agents
aren't used. I was skimming through the logs and found a reference to "art
returned score of "0" ..." Based on the research I've done so far, I
understand that this refers to the scoreboard in xgrid on Leopard and
defines whether a job is sent to a client (whether the score is 1 or 0?) So
my question is what do I need to edit on the client or the server to get it
to return a positive score an therefore (I presume) use said agent for a
job?

Any help, suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!
