OK, I was asking because last time I cleaned there, I had ~200,000 files!!!

These are the 2 solutions that came to me too.
For solution 2, is it also necessary to rm the blobs directory or is the controller going to take care of that?

It is not necessary for clearing the Admin queue. But, if you have cruft in there you are *sure* you don't want, it wouldn't hurt clean that out as well.

However there is another issue: clearing all the jobs that have been
registered with the xgrid Admin. I have ~2000 jobs to clear and I'm
not keen on spending the rest of my day clearing them one by one.
Where are these jobs registered and how can I clear them at once,
either programmatically or by editing the file?

One easy solution:

1. build and run the GridSample project in /Developer/Examples/ Xgrid/GridSample -- it supports multiple selection

More drastic solution:

2. delete the entire controller database at /var/xgrid/controller/ datastore.db -- destroys all jobs and grid and agents
