RE: [Xgrid] Python and Xgrid - one job at a time?

Thanks Andrew and Charles for your fast replies. In answer to your
diagnostics,

1) It makes no difference if I run explicitly through the interpreter or
not. In both cases I get the first job working, the second (and third)
failing.

2) I am trying to submit multiple instances of the program as a batch,
please excuse my delay as I am new to the environment and am unfortunately
trying this out in parallel with research. I'll let you know ASAP.

3) No shared resource so far as I can tell - it is only Python and the scipy
library.

I'm not terribly worried about to-the-second accuracy, as this job is set to
run for about 15-20 minutes without any input.

Thanks,
Rob

I don't know what the cause is, but just for the sake of
experimenting...

- Does it make a difference if you run your program explicitly
through the python interpreter, rather than running the source code
file itself?
- Does it make a difference if the jobs are submitted at the same
time, like in a batch file with multiple jobs?
- Is this program using a shared resource of any kind that could be
causing the second instance to quit prematurely?

Keep in mind that the dateStarted and dateStopped times that you can
get from the Xgrid controller are only accurate to the second, so it
is conceivable that on a tight cluster the job could be sent out and
come back in less than a second.
