It turned out that we didn't have a proper installation of fink on one of the Xserves, so python was failing whenever a job was trying to run off a core from that node. Apparently there is some sort of flag that had to be set on radmind when updating the disk of an Xserve which our systems guru didn't set when he was flashing this particular machine. Now it has been set, fink and python are properly installed, and everything is up and running.
