[Xgrid] Firewall Settings for Controller?

I see something reported in other posts but have not found the resolution.

in order for xgrid admin to see the agents I have to turn off it's firewall.  I can then see the agents.  After that I can turn the firewall back on and the agents remain until the next time the xgrid controller is restarted.  then I have to repeat this.

settings:

xgid admin and the xgrid controller are running on the same snow leopard server.

firewall on the controller server is set to have ssh and port 4111 allowed for incoming connections.

firewall on the agent can be up or down.

What this sounds to me like is that there is some port besides 4111 that I need to unblock.  I suspect I am getting a stateful connection established when I lower the firewall that is then maintained after I raise it.

the log messages on the agent suggest that it can't authenticate the controller.  Howver since I have it set to None, I suspect this means it can't even contact the controller.
