[Xgrid] "Xgrid Admin and HPC v10.6" manuals

Hi,

I would like to ask if somebody has managed to configure an Xgrid
environment using the official "Xgrid Admin and HPC v10.6" manuals. I
am not an expert in OS X Server, but there may be some errors in the
manuals. My configuration is very similar, 10 Mac Pro (9x nodes, 1x
controller), controller connected to public + private network, nodes
authenticated using Kerberos. I will write below some problems I have
encountered using official manuals. I was trying to follow part II of
the manuals (Part II: Configuring High Performance Computing) as much
as possible, the only difference is the usage of Mac Pros instead of
Xserve nodes.

Possible errors/problems:

chapter 10 (page 74)
Step 27 suggests an software update of the system. However, step 13e
says we should skip DNS server setting. In that case Apple software
update doesn't work. This is easy to fix, just enter you DNS server
and continue with the next step.

chapter 10 (pages 75-77)
Based on this settings I was not able to verify the DNS settings.
Hostname command has returned the right hostname, but the hostname
didn't match to public IP address (it matched to LOCAL IP address).
Based on the "Xgrid Admin and HPC v10.5" manuals (page 84, step 19) I
assume that one step is missing here. I fixed that by assigning a
public IP address to the controller hostname. After this step I
successfully validated DNS settings.

For an expert this are small problems which can be fixed in a matter
of minutes, but for beginners it would be better to have error-free
manuals. If the problems I have encountered are really the consequence
of the errors in the manuals, it would be nice to get a revised
version.

Thanks.

Crt
