Serving Windows profiles via SMB from Xsan

Hi,

I have a client who's using Xsan storage and Tiger Server to provide
SMB and AFP file services to a network, with authentication via AD.
They would like to host Windows user profiles this way, but when a
Windows XP user tries to log in to their machine with a profile that
lives on the Xsan (via SMB) the login times out. Moving the profile to
an HFS+ volume shared from the same server resolves the issue.

Any reports of success or failure from others trying to do this?
Any clues as to why it's not working for my client?

Thanks,
Terry
