It will only allow you to trash the files inside the trash...

Solution:

1. On the MDC mount this Volume
2. cd to the .Trashes directory
3. chown -R root .
4. chmod -R 777 .
5. rm -Rf .
6. Done

You should NOT change the permissions of .Trashes nor should you remove it. It will simply be created again the next time the volume is mounted, and incorrect permissions on .Trashes can lead to erratic behavior from the user's perspective.
