I am currently in the process of doing the "create new volume and move data to it" method of storage pool replacement. The process ultimately needed to be done this way for multiple reasons. However, I am intrigued to know that it is possible to remove a storage pool from a Volume. There are a number of scenarios in our environment where that would be ideal to do, at least for the short term. I have tried to find out how to do it, but could never find the necessary documentation, or at least detailed enough to try on a live volume with data on it. The closest I got to finding it was seeing in the StorNext documentation for one of our Windows client systems a mention of the ability to 'down' a storage pool, without explaining anything more.

Bottom line, knowing in advance that it is a tedious and not ideal method of volume reconfiguration, how do you actual do it?
