So if you paste this code into script editor it fails?
...
If it does fail to compile then you've still got something
wrong. If it just won't run then that's not surprising.
Yeah, it won't compile. The "machine code" one compiles fine (but
haven't run it yet). I don't expect it to run without supplying the
rest of the code and references that go with it (this isn't the only
problem section, just a section of code that uses a program people
are familiar with).
So the problem is that it won't even get past the syntax check (line
breaks have been checked and are definitely not the problem here).
After the "resize" command it highlights "image" and tells me
"expected end of line, etc., but found identifier."
I think I just found my problem and wanted to share in case anyone
else has this issue - and I don't have the reasons, just my
solution...
I noticed that besides Photoshop it was also happening with Quicktime
Player. I opened a script that I knew worked in Script Editor and
the same copy in Smile 2.5.2. The one in Smile 2.5.2 had the same
machine code for Quicktime, but it was plain AppleScript in Script
Editor.
When I was trying to iron out the bugs I was ONLY using Script
Editor, and couldn't get things to work in Photoshop (I took the
correct code from Paul and ran it through - wouldn't compile). So I
downloaded Smile 2.5.6, deleted Smile 2.5.2 and tried the same thing
in Script Editor again. It worked.
I don't know how or why, but it seems that having Smile 2.5.2 on my
system was messing up how even Script Editor worked.
Now on to updating my scripts. Thanks for the help.
