You can update the SCR331 card with a windows machine. The SCR331 needs
firmware version 5.18 I believe to work with OS X. I vendor, who I can
not remember right now, has the utilities and firmware updates that you
will need.

Subject: [Fed-Talk] Re: Assistance with SCR331 card reader
Hello:
I am trying to install the SCR331 card reader. I have had no success
thus far. I have followed the direction in Shawn Geddis's guide for
10.3.x. When I insert the CAC card no card is detected. I found a
reference in a posting dated 13 May 2005 from Dave Lawlin. He made
reference to updating the firmware on the card reader. How do you
accomplish updating the firmware?
Also are there other readers that will work as well. I welcome any
recommendations you may have. Thank you for your time.
Bill Wade
PS I am supporting 10.3 and 10.4.
