Interestingly, I've got Paul's fixed CCID IFD handler installed, but
Safari 3.1 on Leopard will fail to do SSL client authN to my OWA
server but *succeeds* with the AF portal.
Odd, that one.
And yes, still waiting for Apple to fix.

This is a known problem if your new CAC is an Oberthur card.
Look in your system log using the Console utility. Watch for log
messages when you insert your CAC. You will probably see some
errors appear.
People are still waiting for Apple to fix this.

Subject: [Fed-Talk] cac + safari problems
hi all,
i've been having problems w/ using my cac card under 10.5.2.
on a mac pro. i'm using a scr331 card reader flashed to v.5.22 of
the firmware.
things seem to have worked okay under 10.4.x.
(and still work pretty well under parallels/xp/activIdentity...)
i just got my cac card updated and following the steps over at the
AKO guide, things go fine until i get to page 4 where i've got
keychain access open, insert the cac card and then nothing.
according to AKO, at this point, the certificates should become
visible and, subsequently, addable to the keychain.
i think that i may have broken something in the keychain earlier,
since keychain access would crash if i inserted a CAC card.
but reinstalling 10.5.2 seemed to stop this behavior.
if i attempt to access nmci email via OWA under safari,
with the cac card inserted and the reader led flashing,
safari goes straight to the 401 unauthorized page
instead of asking for the PIN.
(it's frustrating since OWA and other cac-required access work
just fine under parallels/XPsp2 on the same machine)
any assistance would be most appreciated.
