Actually, the problem I found is that the parent of a menu item that is in a
sub-menu (meaning the menu item's parent is the sub-menu) does not itself
have a parent, which should be pointing to the menu item that the sub-menu
roots to. However, if I search from the menu bar UI element root, I can find
that menu item that the sub-menu roots to and its child (which should be the
sub-menu itself) is set correctly. It just looks like the two way linking
did not occur between a sub-menu and the menu item it roots to.
