FWIW the reparenting errors ceased when I switched to a plain NSCell instead of an NSTextFieldCell, but in either case the YES return value from the isAccessibilityIgnored method did not succeed in hiding the column from VoiceOver. Maybe there is some mojo about how table cells are used in accessibility that I'm misunderstanding, though.
