That's what it does - but only in AppleScript. I imagine you really

do something similar in Tex-Edit Plus (although I'm not entirely sure

Open a Filemaker export tab-return file with TE+.
Search all the (french) phone numbers appearing as "xx xx xx xx".
Change them to "xxxxxxxx"
Re-import the file to FM.
Text sample:

Note:
It would be easy to make it in Filemaker, but I prefer to make it
"externally".
Kai's and Christopher Stone's solutions are not able to do the work. I
may have missed something.
