I fail to see where Apple owes your MUG a thing.
You must have a very narrow view of how the world works. Or maybe you
don't understand how much good work user groups do. Whether you like it
or not, Apple has benefitted from our labors. Strictly speaking, you
are right, Apple 'owes' us nothing. There's no contract. We have no
tit-for-tat agreement.
We, as user groups, have no legal claims against Apple. We present no
bill for our unsolicited services. But we need not be blind to the lack
of support we get from Apple.
I don't see how any of you who have been a user group leader for any
length of time, can disagree with the contention that Apple offers Mac
User Groups less in the way of material support than a great many other
vendors, manufacturers, or developers. That's all I'm saying.
You can disagree with my opinion that Apple should show more support
for user groups. Fine, good for you. You are a true capitalist,
possibly a libertarian, and sincere in your beliefs, I'm sure.
But you'll never convince me that Apple doesn't benefit from our
labors, and that in a fair world, they'd show us a little (more)
respect and support.
I guess I'm talking about Good Will.

PS
Pure supposition
That's how this kind of discourse works. We make logical suppositions
and try to support them. I'm entitled to make mine, as you are yours.
Some turn out to be true, some only appear so. And some are just plain
wrong.
