Have you ever considered an out-of-the-box approach to getting vendors to
come to your user group? I thought of maybe having a a short video
demonstration with the features followed by a discussion with a webcam on
your main presentation screen at your MUG so they could be there to answer
questions almost like they were really there.
Possibly even use Timbuktu to have them control the machine doing the
demo... Maybe try something where you could basically get the demo done
without their actual physical presence. I'm sure vendors would be willing to
cooperate much more than pay for time and costs of a long flight,
accommodations etc... Just for your MUG which will probably be about $5,000
or more to an international destination.
Just some ideas, feel free to bash them :)
